The Latest Review of Capucine's Restaurant

I started going to Capucine's almost thirty years ago when I lived and worked in the neighborhood. At that time I used to go at least once a week and it was far and away my favorite Italian restaurant in all of New York. Not much has changed over the years and although I now live in Brooklyn I still manage to go there several times a year. A friend of mine who now lives in Miami is another long term customer and seldom comes to New York with out a visit. Why do I like it so much? Simple, the food and the service. I have never been disappointed by the food which is top quality. My favorites include the calamari and the stuffed veal chop. Their fish is also top quality and everyone likes their deserts. The service is fantastic as well. The staff turn-over has been minimal and some of the people have been working their as long as I have been going there. That is some staying power. They always treat me like family and I end up feeling guilty for not going their more often. When I used to go their on a regular basis they knew my wine preferences and would ask me when I made my reservation if I was going to order one that needed to breath a bit. If I was they would open it and have it ready before I even arrived. Simply the best place for a top notch dinner in cozy surroundings with top notch service. The crowd is mostly regulars and once you eat their you will not only see why, you may become one yourself. Dan Freeman Brooklyn
